When the Riley arrived at her new home at Cross Butts farm near Whitby, she was placed on a lorry trailer, scaffolded all round, and built into strong hoops of Plywood.
This would enable her to be turned through ninety degrees for work to begin on the hull.
Many of the mahogany planks from the Keel upwards were rotten, and these were replaced by Mahogany laminate with epoxy resin.
The stern post and part of the keel were replaced with oak, and eventually the whole hull was sheathed with fibreglass matting and epoxy resin.
After an initial paint-up, the boat was transferred to Haltwhistle where Dave and Ian completed the internal decking, bulkheads, and seats.
When the inside was completed, the Riley returned to Whitby for a final paint and refit.
She was now ready for sea.
